19,808 Results Withheld as WAEC Prepares to Release WASSCE 2024 Results
From information gathered by quarmsmedia.com during an interview on Accra-Based FM, WAEC Head of Public Relations Officer has confirmed that 19,808 results has been withheld due to examination malpractices during the WASSCE 2024 examination.
The West African Examinations
Council (WAEC) is set to release the provisional results for the 2024 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the second week of December 2024 as it was stated in our previous news.
This announcement was made through a press release issued on December 1, 2024. According to WAEC, it has completed the marking of the scripts of all candidates who took part in the 2024 WASSCE examination. Following the completion of the marking, WAEC is finalising everything to ensure that the results are been released between December 9 and December 15.
“We are looking at the second week of December, so at least between the 9th and the 15th of December, we are sure that we will be able to release the results”.
The 2024 WASSCE was conducted across Ghana from Monday, August 5, to Friday, September 20, 2024, with Visual Arts Project Work marking the conclusion of the examination. This year, a total of
460,611 candidates, comprising 212,954 males and 247,657 females, registered to take the examination at 1,000 centers nationwide.
The management also revealed, that 19,808 candidates’ results have been withheld due to issues of examination malpractice while some results have also been canceled entirely.
These measures according to WAEC were implemented following the council’s investigative findings regarding irregularities at various centers.

WAEC Grading System
The WASSCE uses a grading system that ranges from A1 to F9, with A1 being the highest grade and F9 representing failure.
The grades correspond to a scale of marks achieved by the student, with the following general breakdown:
A1 (Excellent): 75-100%
B2 (Very Good): 70-74%
B3 (Good): 65-69%
C4 (Credit): 60-64%
C5 (Credit): 55-59%
C6 (Credit): 50-54%
D7 (Pass): 45-49%
E8 (Pass): 40-44%
F9 (Fail): Below 40%
