SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
- Admission to 6-Year Medicine (MBChB) Programme
Entry requirements
- Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations or West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE/WASSCE) with their equivalences such as:GCE (Cambridge)-‘A’ levelsIGCSE (Cambridge)-‘A’ Levels
- Any other external qualifications, which have equivalences to the SSSCE/WASSCE as
determined by GTEC. - Prospective candidates with WASSCE results of aggregate nine (09) or better will be shortlisted for an entrance examination and interview.
- The aggregate is calculated base
on three (3) Core Subjects: English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science and three (3) Elective Subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Elective Mathematics.
NOTE : An Examination & Entrance Fee Of Three HundredandFifty Ghana Cedis (GHC 350.00) Will be Charged.
a. Candidates must satisfy the general requirements for admission under “A” Level of the G.C.E. or its equivalences in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics) with a maximum aggregate of Nine (09).
b. Candidates must have at least credit passes (Grade 6 or better) in five (5) GCE Ordinary level subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and General Science plus Additional Science or any two of the individual science subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
c. All undergraduates shall enter at Level 100 (first year) of the programme.
- b. Admission requirement to 2-year BSc Physician Assistant Anaesthesia programme
1. To be admitted into the programme leading to the award of a BSc. Physician Assistant Anaesthesia, a candidate must have any of the following:
i.Diploma in Registered General Nursing (RGN)
ii. Diploma in Psychiatry Nursing
iii. Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia
iv. BSc in Nursing
v. BSc Psychiatry Nursing
vi. BSc Midwifery
2. Applicants must have post-registration working experience in an accredited health
facility.
3. The programme does not accept straight-entry applications from Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE), West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) or equivalences.
4. All undergraduates shall enter at Level 300 of the programme.
5. Interviews for all candidates will be scheduled in July 2025 at the UDS, Tamale Campus.
6. An interview fee will be charged.
7. At the interview, all applicants will be required to show the original and present photocopy of the following documents:
i. School/College/University Certificates
ii. Examinations Results slips/Transcripts
iii. Birth certificate/ Ghana Card
iv. Passport (for international applicants)
v. Study leave approval letter
vi. English proficiency (international applicants from non-English-speaking countries)
- c. 4-Year Bsc Community Nutrition Degree Programme
1. Qualification/prerequisites for the programme.
WASSCE Applicants: Applicants seeking admission into the BSc Community Nutrition programme must have credit passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and credit passes in three (3) elective subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
2. Applicants are expected to pass entrance examination and interview to be admitted.
Also, SSSCE Applicants: Applicants seeking admission into the BSc Community Nutrition programme must have credit passes (A – D) in three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and credit passes in three (3) elective subjects: Biology,
Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. Applicants are expected to pass entrance examination and interview to be admitted.
3. Cut-off points for admission for the BSc Community Nutrition programme is Aggregate 14 or less for WASSCE applicants and 12 or less for SSSCE applicants are required for admission.
Home Economics applicants with aggregate 10 will be considered for admission if they did Food and Nutrition and Biology or Chemistry as part of their elective subjects.
Top-up Applicants
1. Applicants must hold a diploma in Nutrition or Dietetics or Food Science from an accredited, relevant, science-based institution.
All applicants must pass a competitive interview to be conducted by the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Applicants would be considered for entry at level 200 or 300 depending on the class of their diploma and performance in the admission interview.
