About GES Computerised School Selection and Placement (CSSPS)
The Ghana Education Service (GES) Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is a digital platform designed to streamline the process of selecting and placing students in senior high schools (SHS) across Ghana.
This system aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the placement of students following their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Objectives of CSSPS
1. Fairness : To ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to be placed in schools based on their preferences and academic performance.
2. Efficiency : To reduce the time and resources spent on manual placement processes.
3. Transparency : To provide a clear and accessible system where students and parents can track placements.

Process of CSSPS
1. Registration : Students must register online through the GES portal. This involves providing personal information and academic records.
2. Selection of Schools : After registration, students select their preferred senior high schools based on their BECE results. They typically choose up to six schools, prioritizing them according to preference.
3. Computerized Placement : The system uses an algorithm to match students with schools based on:
- Students’ BECE scores
- The school’s cut-off points
- The choices made by students
4. Placement Results : Once the placement process is complete, students can check their results online. They are assigned to schools according to their preferences and academic performance.
5. Re-Placement : If a student is not satisfied with their placement, there is usually an opportunity for re-placement through an official procedure, which may involve a second selection window.
