GES Opens 2026 Promotion Applications for Non-Teaching Staff
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 promotion of non-teaching staff to various upper grades. The invitation is targeted at suitably qualified serving officers within the Service who meet the required conditions.
The promotion exercise covers several professional classes, including accounting, internal audit, administration, catering, technical, library, supply, laboratory technician, secretarial and driver classes.

For example, the Catering Class includes Chief, Deputy Chief and Principal Domestic Bursars, while the Driver Class covers Yard-Foreman, Chief Driver and Principal Driver positions.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must have been promoted to any of the specified grades in or before 2022 and must have remained continuously at post since that time, except for periods of approved absence.
Applicants are also expected to have a very satisfactory work history and good conduct in the Ghana Education Service.
This requirement is important because meeting the minimum years of service alone does not automatically guarantee promotion. Applicants should ensure that their employment records and supporting documents accurately reflect their current status.
Promotion Using Master’s or PhD Certificates
GES has also provided specific conditions for officers who intend to use Master’s or PhD qualifications to join the promotion interviews out of turn.
The postgraduate programme must be on the approved GES course of study. In addition, the Master’s or PhD certificate should not have been obtained before the applicant’s previous promotion.
Applicants relying on postgraduate qualifications must have obtained the relevant certificate in or before 2023.
How to Apply Online
Applicants are required to complete the application form online through the designated GES application link or by scanning the QR code provided in the official notice.
Applicants should upload a recent passport-sized photograph together with the required documents.
The notice further states that applicants should upload only their last promotion/upgrading letter or appointment letter to their current grade, as applicable.
Those using a Master’s or Doctorate qualification for promotion should upload only the relevant certificate.
All supporting documents must be uploaded in PDF format, except the passport-sized photograph. Documents should also be clear and readable to avoid problems during processing.
