NTC responds to concerns about GTLE results, marking accuracy and the reported GH¢1,500 remarking fee, while assuring candidates of a transparent process.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has responded to concerns being raised by some Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) candidates about their results, marking process and the cost of requesting a remark.
The concerns were brought to the attention of the NTC by Fred Media Network. In its message, the platform said there are growing concerns among candidates who strongly believe they performed well enough to pass but were still marked unsuccessful.
For candidates who have spent months preparing for the GTLE, such a situation can naturally be frustrating. A failed result can affect confidence, plans and, in some cases, a teacher’s professional journey. This is why questions about how scripts are marked deserve serious attention.
Fred Media Network also raised concerns about a reported remarking fee of GH¢1,500 per script. According to the message, the amount is beyond the reach of many affected candidates, making it difficult for them to request a review of their results.
The platform therefore respectfully appealed to the NTC to look into the concerns and ensure that scripts are marked and recorded accurately.
The NTC, however, responded by defending the integrity of its examination process. The Council described itself as a noble institution committed to professionalism, integrity and fairness in the GTLE.
More importantly, the NTC assured candidates that no one is deliberately marked down. Its response made its position clear: “what you write is what you get.” The Council also stated that all scripts go through a thorough and transparent marking process.
The NTC further reminded candidates that the GTLE is not simply a class test. It is a professional examination designed to assess the competence expected of teachers who will help shape the future of learners.
Because of this, the Council said it does not compromise on professional standards.
When examination results determine an individual’s professional future, candidates need to have confidence that the marking process is fair, accurate and transparent.
At the same time, candidates should be careful about relying solely on social media discussions when dealing with examination matters.
According to the NTC, anyone who believes there has been an error should seek information directly from the NTC and confirm the official procedure and applicable fees before taking action.
