With the 2024 WASSCE results set to be released on December 9, 2024, WAEC is facing a critical situation that could delay or even prevent the timely release of these crucial exam results.
John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, has acknowledged the severity of the crisis, highlighting that the examination body is struggling to maintain essential resources needed to fulfill its responsibilities.
“We are in an extremely challenging position,” Mr. Kapi stated, referring to the unpaid debts from previous exams. “We are not only facing severe financial difficulties, but also dealing with operational issues, especially with our scanning equipment for objective tests and other machinery, which are malfunctioning due to inadequate maintenance.”
The government’s outstanding debt is considerable. WAEC has confirmed that, as of 2024, the total arrears for exams including the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), WASSCE, and others have accumulated to a concerning GH₵155.86 million.

1. Visit the official WAEC website: Go to the official website www.waecgh.org
2. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789).
3. For examination year < 1999, enter your 8-digit WAEC Examination Number.
(This is your 5-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 19865001)
4. Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2002
5. Select the Type of Examination
6. Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number
Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN
7. Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.
